Christian Education
Christian education is extremely important in today's society. Children need to be learning why they believe what they believe, not questioning everything they believe. Here at TBCS, children get a firm foundation of the truths of the Bible. As teachers, we pray with them, encourage them to do right, and correct them when they are wrong. We care not just about their education, but also about their eternity. That's what makes our school different from the "norm." We are always striving for excellence, and we truly love our kids!

Language Arts

In 5th grade language, students learn about all eight parts of speech and practice using each one correctly. Students will also get to write a research paper using the grammar that they have learned, as well as using their researching skills. Students will learn new concepts this year, but they will also be able to perfect skills they have learned in previous years as well.

Math
Fifth grade math is an exciting and challenging curriculum. They will use negative numbers, solve story problems, and use protractors this year. And these are just a few of the things they will do! The books are set up so that the students learn a new skill, practice that skill, and then review other things they have previously learned. By the time students take a quiz or test, they have had several days of practice to perfect the new concept. The constant review they will receive in this math course will help them understand the new ideas as well as make them concrete throughout the year.

Science
This year, the fifth grade students will join the sixth grade students in learning about all different kids of things in science! We will talk about chemistry and the periodic table, invertebrates, personal health, and so much more! The ACSI curriculum allows hands on experiences to help the students understand the concepts better. With experiments and open ended questions, students will love science and will be wanting more!

Social Studies
This year in history, students will be learning about the "New World." To name a few things, we will study about how America became a nation, about Canadian provinces, and about Central and South American countries. The comprehensive map studies will allow students to learn many different locations of North and South American countries and states. By the end of the year, we will have covered the entire left hand side of the map.
